Where do I vote on Election Day?

On Election Day, you can cast your ballot at your designated precinct voting location.

To find yours, visit the Maine Polling Place Finder.

All polling places in Maine open between 6:00 am and 10:00 am, and close at 8:00 pm. Contact your locatl election officials for exact open times if needed.

Can I vote by mail?

Any registered voter in Maine can request an absentee ballot to vote by mail!

Absentee ballot requests must be received by November 1st,
and returned no later than November 6th.

I'm in college away from home, which state do I vote in?

You can either register to vote in Maine or the state you're attending school in — but not both!

I'm not in the US right now, how do I vote?

If you are a military voter or a United States citizen living abroad, you should request an overseas absentee ballot.

What ID do I need to vote?

Voter ID is only required in Maine for first-time who did not verify their identity when registering. If you need to verify your identity at the polls, the following forms of ID are accepted:

  • Maine Driver's license or photo ID
  • A current utility bill, bank statement, government check, or paycheck
  • Any government document that shows your name and voting address

What if I have a disability?

Several bills have been passed to ensure voters with disabilities still have reasonable access to privately cast their vote in Maine.
