Who can register to vote in Idaho?

To register as a voter in Idaho, you must:

  • Be a citizen of the United States
  • Be a resident of Idaho for at least 30 days before Election Day
  • Be at least 18 years old by Election Day
  • Not have been convicted of a felony

Where do I vote on Election Day?

On Election Day, you can cast your ballot at your designated precinct voting location.

To find yours, visit the Idaho Polling Place Finder.

All polling places in Idaho are open from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm local time

Can I vote by mail?

Any registered voter in Idaho can request an absentee ballot to vote by mail!

Vote by mail in Idaho by requesting an absentee ballot.

Absentee ballot requests must be received by October 26th,
and returned no later than November 6th.

I'm in college away from home, which state do I vote in?

You can either register to vote in Idaho or the state you're attending school in — but not both!

I'm not in the US right now, how do I vote?

If you are a military voter or a United States citizen living abroad, you should request an overseas absentee ballot.

Can I vote before Election Day?

Yes! Skip the lines and vote early in Idaho. If you're going to be busy, out of town, or otherwise occupied on Election day, this is the best time to vote.

Early Voting period ends on Friday, November 2nd.

If you missed the normal registration deadline, you can visit your early voting site and get registered and vote at the same time!

What ID do I need to vote?

All voters must show one of the following forms of ID when voting:

  • Idaho Driver's license or Idaho photo ID card
  • US Passport or federal photo ID
  • Tribal photo ID
  • A current student Photo ID card issued by a high schoolr or postsecondary school in Idaho

If you don't have an ID, you can sign a sworn statement a your identity, or you can get one from your local DMV.

What if I have a disability?

Several bills have been passed to ensure voters with disabilities still have reasonable access to privately cast their vote in Idaho.
